Must-See Branson Shows for 2008Sneak Peak into the Missouri Entertainment Capital’s Performances
Country crooners, rock 'n' roll legends and good ole nostalgia top Branson's must-see shows for 2008.
Travel to the Ozark Mountains for a musical treat in Missouri's Entertainment Capital. Take a sneak peak into must-see Branson shows for 2008. Joe Diffie – Award winning country crooner heads to the Ozarks with his selection of 12 number one country songs and more than 20 top 10 hits. Diffie also has two platinum albums, two gold albums, a Grammy, the Humanitarian Award and a CMA with George Jones. Expect Diffie to perform some of his popular hits such as “Tougher than Nails,” “The More You Drink the Better I Look” and “Nothing But the Radio.” Diffie will share the stage with comedian Paul Harris, family and friends. Joe Diffie makes his 2008 Branson debut on September 6 and will perform through December 12, 2008 at the Yakov Smirnoff Theatre (470 State Highway 248, telephone: (800) 728-4546). Liverpool Legends - This Beatles tribute band was voted Branson’s “Best Band” and “Best Show” in 2006 and 2007. Liverpool Legends performs songs from the Beatles' early beginnings all the way through their incredible career. Members of this 21st century Fab Four were selected by Louise Harrison, George Harrison’s sister. Liverpool Legends will perform at Branson’s Starlite Theatre (3115 West Highway 76, telephone: (417) 337-9333) April 1 through December 13, 008. NOAH the Musical –A cast of 50, a 40-foot ark and hundreds of live and animatronics animals married with new songs and lyrics give a new, fresh, thriving perspective to a traditional biblical story. NOAH the Musical will show at Branson’s Sight & Sound Theater (1001 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, telephone: (800) 377-1277) beginning May 24 through December 20, 2008. Roy Rogers Jr. & The High Riders - Following the musical trail of his parents Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Roy “Dusty” Rogers, Jr. keeps the family legacy alive. Roy Rogers, Jr. & The High Riders perform classic cowboy tunes while telling tales about the Rogers family throughout the performance. Roy Rogers Jr. & The High Riders perform at the Happy Trails Theater at the Roy Rogers –Dale Evans Museum. (Be sure to see Rogers' famous horse Trigger at the museum.) Shake Rattle & Stroll – First playing together in 1952, The Comets, as in Bill Haley and The Comets (minus Bill) can still rock around the clock. Classics like "Shake Rattle & Roll" and "See Ya Later Alligator" are part of their Branson play list. In Shake Rattle & Stroll, The Comets share the stage with Dave Somerville of 1950s band, The Diamonds. Shake Rattle & Stroll is performing at the Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater (1600 West Highway 76, telephone: (417) 332-1960) through August 24, 2008. The Twelve Irish Tenors – These 12 Irish young men sing a delicious blend of smooth harmonies. The Irish crooners sing everything from opera to jazz and classical to pop and have been selling out performances across the United States and Europe. Their play list includes “Yesterday,” “You Raise Me Up” and “Nessun Dorma.” The Twelve Irish Tenors are performing at the Branson Variety Theater (2701 West Highway 76, telephone: (800) 590-0155) through December 12, 2008. Tony Orlando & The Lennon Sisters Christmas Celebration –Singing favorites like “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” and “Knock Three Times,” Tony Orlando (sans Dawn) looks fabulous, can still work a crowd and makes women swoon. Visitors to Branson can expect the same energy when Orlando teams with the Lennon Sisters during the Tony Orlando & The Lennon Sisters Christmas Celebration at the Welk Resort Theatre November 1 through December 6, 2008. Branson serves up a taste of country, rock 'n' roll and nostalgia for every traveler’s palate.
