The new Branson Airport in Branson Missouri, famous travel destination, is scheduled to open May 2009 to public and has two low cost airlines scheduled for flights.

Branson, Missouri, known for country music attractions, welcomes their brand new Branson Airport in May 2009 which already has agreements with two airlines, Enterprise Rental Car Company and other amenities, like Famous Dave's Barbecue Restaurants. This airport located in the Ozark Mountain region values a very high degree of customer service towards passengers.

Branson, Missouri, a popular travel destination in their own right, now has the solution of how to get there with the opening of the new Branson Airport. Take a step further, this is the first privately funded airport which will be open commercially in the USA. This launches many opportunities for this new airport in their business development.

Air Tran Airways and Sun Country Airlines Scheduled to Open at Branson Airport

Air Tran Airways was the first carrier to secure the agreement, with recent Sun Country Airlines announcement of new schedules to the Branson Airport on May 11. These low cost, economical airlines are just what people want for connecting Branson to airports in other cities:

  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota
  • Dallas, Texas

Another city expected to add airline connections to/from is Denver, Colorado. Enterprise Rental Car, with corporate headquarters in St. Louis and known for their valued customer service and Famous Dave's Barbecue Restaurants will be included as well.

About the Branson Airport in Ozark Mountains Region

Now, this 900 acre Branson Airport is a 10 minute drive north into the popular tourist destination town, Branson for tourists. Before, the 8 million people which Branson attracts would have to either fly into major cities of Kansas City or St Louis, and drive 2-3 hours to Branson, or use the smaller local airport at Springfield, Missouri.

The Branson Airport was built in these Ozark Mountains to manage 700,000 passengers and expects to have 250,000 to 300,000 passengers their first year. As the Branson Airport website states, “our new 7,140 foot runway is open to midsized commercial type aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and 757, but can handle planes as large as the 767.”

This will enable the airport to receive non-stop air service from anywhere in the continental United States.

Zero Tax Payer Dollars Spent on Branson Airport

This vision started in 2007 and the good news is that there has been zero tax payer dollars spent on this venture. This $155 million project is the first of its kind in the USA although Europe has similar projects of privately funded commercially operated airports. This allows the Branson Airport to concentrate with providing a better travel experience to the consumer.

The Branson Airport website cites, “the city of Branson is not obligated to the airport, they have signed a 30 year pay for performance agreement. This is unlike most cities in the USA.”

Customer Service Plays Important Role for Branson Airport

Branson Airport announces their “concierge-level” customer service in all aspects to the inbound/outbound passengers which is not at all uncommon for hospitality of the local people of this Ozark region. The new Branson Airport will support over 3,000 jobs and expected to bring in $209 million revenue for the local Ozark community.

The new Branson Airport scheduled to open in May 2009 is a welcome asset to this hot tourist destination trend providing inexpensive economical solutions with air carriers into this region. And, it will be a great experience visiting another way of life in the USA. And, without a passport!
